Amelia + Griffin

We — Griffin and Amelia — are getting married!

It’s not only that we wanted to have a big party with all of our friends… but that was a motivating factor.

We hope you will join us for a day (or three) to party in a field in Kent, the “Garden of England”, where we are planning some fun for the 26th (welcome), 27th (the party!), and 28th (brunch & recovery) of June.

The field in question sits beside a beautiful restored Oast House in the village of Selling, a few miles from the historic market town of Faversham.

See below for some more information on the location, how to get there, what to wear, what to bring, and important dates & times.

Please RSVP using the link below to let us know if you will be able to come celebrate with us!

How to Get There

By train:

Direct trains run from London Victoria to Selling and Faversham stations more or less hourly. From Faversham Station, it is a 10-minute drive to Harefield Oast. From Selling Station, it is a 5-minute drive (or 30-minute walk). There is a taxi stand at Faversham Station, and we will also do our best to help with transportation to and from stations.

By car:

Faversham is just off the M2 and Harefield Oast is about 10 minutes from the Faversham exit. We plan to have some parking available in the field for cars. However, please bear in mind that it is a field. If the weather is wet, the field will be muddy, which could make parking difficult. There is also a free parking lot (here), which is a five minute walk from the site.

Note to drivers!

The village of Selling and surroundings are small and very rural. This means lots of one-lane country roads and footpaths. If you’d rather not learn to drive on the wrong side of the road while dodging tractors and impatient locals — a harrowing combination — consider taking the train to Faversham and then relying on taxis/rideshares to get around. (We will also have some dedicated transportation options on the night of the party, to make sure everyone can get home safely.)

Where to Stay

The south of England is a popular destination and there are many places to stay around the area and beyond. We have reserved a block of rooms in a local hotel that is a 10-minute drive from the venue, which you are welcome to book through us (please see the accommodation page for more details.)

In addition, we have a beautiful, spacious, you guessed it, FIELD, with on-site amenities (hot showers, flushing toilets, lovely fairy lights) and excellent access to the venue, because … it is the venue. We are going to be camping in the field ourselves. We’d love it if you camped in the field with us!

If you’re a veteran camper, you are welcome to bring your own tent and sleeping gear and stay for the excellent price of free. If you’d like a little more luxury, you can reserve a bell tent (which will be set up before you arrive with bed, mattress, lighting, etc) for the one, two, or even three nights you’d like it, for a flat fee (around £190 for a basic tent and double bed). These can also be shared, if you’d like to drive that price down lower. For more information, again, please see the accommodation page.

You can let us know your accommodation plans when you RSVP.

What to Wear

Wear your favorite party clothes, nothing too precious – think of the sweet spot where garden party, cocktail hour, and English countryside meet.

Whatever you do, wear shoes for walking around on grass and (perhaps) mud! (i.e. no pointy heels or long trailing clothes.)

Image of what to bring
What to Bring
  1. Yourself
  2. Your significant other and children (if you want), including small children. We are expecting several small children to be in attendance, and could help to arrange on site child-minders for the day if there is sufficient interest (please get in touch to discuss)
  3. A towel, if camping (unless you are booking a “luxury” bell tent), and perhaps shower shoes or slippers
  4. A bottle of wine (or other interesting beverage) for dinner. Other alcoholic / non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, but if everyone chips in with one extra bottle, we will have plenty of good cheer to see us through the night
  5. Snacks to share at movie night (see below!)

What to Bring

Friday 26 June

Friday will be a relaxed day for anyone who’d like to show up a little early. From mid-afternoon on Friday (we hope that) everything in the field will be mostly set up and ready to go! If you are staying on site, please feel free to arrive anytime throughout the day, though we might put you to work on last-minute tasks.

For those who’d like to arrive a bit early and take a tour of some of the nearby scenic points, we plan to lead a walk through the beautiful Kentish countryside in the afternoon. This might set off around 3pm or so.

The walk will end at the White Lion pub in Selling for drinks around 6pm. If you prefer to skip the walk, you can also meet us there, by parking in Selling (here) and walking 5 minutes up the street.

Later on Friday night, we will be hosting a movie night in the big tent in the field. The popcorn machine and programming will get going around sunset (~9pm). Bring blankets or sleeping bags to be cozy, any drinks/snacks that you fancy, etc.

Saturday 27 June - the day!

Some breakfast fixings will be available for those staying in the field. You are free to hang out or explore around Selling or Faversham until the afternoon. There will be plenty of family and friends to hang out with, and we can recommend walks and other activities in the area.

3pm - Arrive. Drinks and lawn games in the field.

4pm - 6pm - Amelia & Griffin will return from the registry and kick off the party! Sparkly drinks and fancy food.

6pm (ish) - Dinner in the tent

8pm - Dancing!

10pm - More dancing!

12pm - Keep dancing, if you have made it this far! Around midnight, we will switch to silent disco to spare the neighbors. There will also be taxis ready to take you back to your hotel.

Sunday 28 June

10am - Brunch and recovery time, for those who are hanging around.

You are free to head off on your next adventure whenever you like. There are no set plans for Sunday. We will likely be tidying things up and taking it easy, but it’s possible that some small outings may be organized. All of the facilities (tents, showers, toilets) are expected to remain on site until Monday, so you are also welcome to stay through until then if you’d like.

Please let us know your plans when you RSVP.
